Quick Rule
A windshield crack alone does not justify an equipment stop; reasonably suspect that its condition makes the vehicle unsafe.

Describe the crack's size, position, visibility obstruction, and safety effect.
Important Limits
The officer need not prove the defect before stopping, but must have an objective basis to suspect an unsafe condition under section 316.610.
