Florida Statute § 316.130
Summary verified against the 2026 Florida Statutes: October 1, 2026.
Quick Summary
At a signalized crosswalk with a permitted pedestrian signal, or a crosswalk signed to require stopping, the driver must stop and remain stopped for a pedestrian on the vehicle's half of the road or approaching closely enough from the other half to be in danger. At an uncontrolled crosswalk, yield and slow or stop as necessary under the same proximity rule. Drivers must not pass a vehicle stopped for a crossing pedestrian. Record the pedestrian's location, signal/sign, and time available to yield; pedestrians may not suddenly step into an unavoidable path.
