Driving left of center prohibited
Florida Statute § 316.087
Driving left of center is prohibited at a hillcrest or curve where the limited view creates an opposing-traffic hazard, within 100 feet of or through a railroad crossing, and near a view-obstructed bridge, viaduct, or tunnel. The 100-foot intersection rule has a specific advance-sign requirement for state/county highways outside city limits. Exceptions include one-way roads, a necessary obstruction avoidance, and left turns into or out of an alley, private road, or driveway. Identify the location, measured distance, sight restriction, and applicable exception.
Improper passing on right
Florida Statute § 316.084
Passing on the right is allowed when the other vehicle is turning or about to turn left, or when the roadway has sufficient unobstructed width for the permitted multiple lines of traffic, including qualifying one-way roads. The pass must be safe and may not leave the pavement or main-traveled roadway. Document lane layout, the other vehicle's movement, available width, and whether the driver used a shoulder or other off-roadway area.
Improper passing opposite direction
Florida Statute § 316.082
Vehicles meeting from opposite directions must pass to each other's right. On a road wide enough for only one line of traffic each way, each driver must provide the other approximately half of the main-traveled roadway, as nearly as possible. Document road width, vehicle positions, available room, and the encroachment. This section concerns meeting opposing traffic; use the overtaking provisions for vehicles traveling in the same direction.
Passing in no-passing zone
Florida Statute § 316.0875
Drivers must obey clearly visible signs or pavement markings establishing a no-passing zone and generally may not drive left of its boundary. Exceptions permit safely and briefly crossing only as necessary to avoid an obstruction, turn into/out of an alley/private road/driveway, or pass a bicycle, electric bicycle, or other nonmotorized vehicle under the applicable safe-passing rule. Record markings, visibility, the maneuver, and whether one of these limited exceptions actually applies.
Unsafe overtaking/passing
Florida Statute § 316.083
A driver overtaking same-direction traffic must signal appropriately, pass left at a safe distance, and return right only after safely clearing the other vehicle. When passing a bicycle, electric bicycle, or other nonmotorized vehicle in the same travel lane or a bicycle lane, allow at least 3 feet; if unsafe, stay behind until a safe pass is possible. The specified bicycle clearance provisions exclude separated bicycle lanes. The overtaken driver must yield right on the prescribed signal and must not accelerate until passed.
