Illegal front side window tint
Florida Statute § 316.2953
Front side windows and wings adjacent to or ahead of the driver's seat may use tint only within the statutory limits: at least 28% visible-light transmission and no more than 25% visible reflectance. Test the installed glass-and-material combination, using an approved transmission device, and apply the ±3% statutory measurement tolerance. Record the window, reading, device, and material. Check valid medical and specified law-enforcement, process-server, or private-investigator exemptions under §316.29545 before citing.
Illegal rear window tint
Florida Statute § 316.2954
For film on windows behind the driver, the usual minimum transmission is 15%, or 6% for multipurpose passenger vehicles, with reflectance no more than 35%. Perforated materials, louvers, and open/secured privacy curtains have different conditions; a nontransparent rear window requires mirrors on both sides. Apply the ±3% tolerance and check §316.29545 exemptions. Document vehicle class, window, material type, and approved-device reading; do not apply front-window limits to every rear window.
Window tint labeling violation
Florida Statute § 316.2955 / 316.2956(3)
Installers or sellers must provide the specified permanent/destructible compliance label identifying the material trade name and business; the installer must affix it inside the left door jamb. Compliant factory glazing does not need this label. Establish who sold or installed the material and the omitted requirement: an absent label on a driver's vehicle alone does not prove the driver committed the installer/seller misdemeanor under §316.2956(3). Operational tint limits and their ±3% measurement tolerance are separate issues.
Windshield - Sign/Covering/Sunscreen Material
Florida Statute § 316.2952(2)
Windshield tint extending below the AS/1 line into the driver's direct forward viewing area is prohibited when the motor vehicle is operated on a public highway, road, or street unless an applicable exemption exists. The ordinary sunscreen exception permits only a transparent top strip outside that viewing area. Verify any FLHSMV-issued medical exemption certificate for the vehicle; a prescription alone is not that certificate. The subsection also prohibits windshield signs, products, or coverings, but allows legally required papers, government/designee-issued electronic toll devices, and qualifying GPS navigation, driver-safety monitoring, or routing devices. Document operation, material, and placement relative to the AS/1 line. Check undercover/canine law-enforcement sunscreening exemptions and the conditional vehicle exceptions in subsections (5)-(6). The process-server/private-investigator exemption does not extend to section 316.2952. Side-window tint percentages do not establish windshield compliance.
